The company specialises in the turnkey construction of high voltage projects (3.3 kV – 750 kV) within the transmission and distribution market.

With an exemplary safety culture of Zero Reportable Accidents to date since 1997, we continually work with all stakeholders through engagement, open communication including safety stand-down days to maintain our impressive safety record. H&MV Engineering have developed and implemented in-house safety rules in recognition of the Energy Networks Association ( ENA) and international standards.

H&MV is a leading Independent Connections Provider (ICP), safely delivering innovative, efficient, competitive and compliant new electricity grid connections.

Our purpose-built state of the art Training Centre provides innovative training courses including ‘City & Guilds Accredited High Voltage Switching & Operations’.

H&MV currently offer services in the UK, Ireland , Scandinavia, South Africa and the Middle East.

PJ has worked with H&MV Engineering since 2000 and has over 20 years of experience in the high voltage industry. As CEO, PJ personally leads a highly-motivated, qualified and experienced team. He has worked at all levels in the organisation and has seen the company grow from it’s infancy to one of the key leaders in the market.


John Stokes
Executive Director


John joined the H&MV team from ESB in 2001, and through his 22 years of service within the HV power industry has gained an in-depth technical knowledge of HV system design and operational safety. John’s combined role as both commercial and technical director ensures that the continued success of H&MV is driven by a strong focus on safety and quality while we deliver cutting edge tailored power distribution solutions for our customers.


Enda Molloy
Asset Management Director


Enda has 18 successful years’ experience working in the electrical power industry. Having joined H&MV Engineering in 2001, Enda has progressed through the company holding roles as a service engineer, maintenance manager and subsequently director of asset management. Enda also has responsibility for the implementation of the HSQE Integrated Management Systems policy.


Asad Babadi
UK Managing Director


Asad joined the senior management team at H&MV Engineering early in 2018.
Asad is an experienced Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 25 years’ experience within the UK Power Transmission and Distribution market, delivering complex engineering projects. An experienced manager at senior level with strong financial and operational background. He has a track record of growth to manage and increase market share.

Tom Ryan
Financial Director


Tom has over 20 years’ experience working in the electrical contracting business having spent over 14 years with Kirby Group Engineering as their Finance Director and subsequently Business Development Director. Tom has also worked as a consultant to a variety of industries including waste to energy and mechanical contracting. Tom joined H&MV in August 2015 as Finance Director and acts as company secretary to the group’s main board and is responsible for all commercial monitoring and contract negotiations. He holds an honours degree in business studies from University of Limerick and holds a post graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from UCD. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.



H&MV Engineering Ltd. ISO, Lloyds and Achilles approved Integrated Management System is made up of 17 sections and over 400 procedures, documents and records. Integrating all our systems and processes into one complete framework, enabling us to work as a single unit with unified objectives.


ISO 9001:2015

H&MV are accredited to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. We were originally certified in July 2013 and re-certified to the updated standard in July 2016.

ISO 45001:2018

H&MV are accredited to ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management systems. We were certified in June 2018.

OHSAS 18001:2007

H&MV are accredited to OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. We were originally certified in July 2013 and re-certified in July 2016.


H&MV are accredited to Achilles Category B2, we were certified in March 2016.


We are a member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

City & Guilds

Our training programmes received City & Guilds accreditation in recognition of high quality and our commitment to continuous development. 


ISO 14001:2015

H&MV are accredited to ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System. We were originally certified in August 2013 and re-certified to the updated standard in July 2016.

Lloyd’s Register

H&MV are accredited to Lloyd’s Register EMEA National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) under Construction, Cable Jointing, Overhead Lines Wooden Pole, Substation Installation and Design: HV Cable Networks. We were certified in June 2016.


H&MV we are Sellihca Pre-Qualified and fully registered as a supplier in the Sellihca Nordic Utility Pre-Qualification System.


H&MV received BSI Verification Certification for Design and Construction proving our capability to deliver BIM projects.

Development Programmes:

Graduate Development Programme - United Kingdom

H&MV Engineering’s Graduate Development Programme, with a duration of 2 years, consists of 4 rotations through Commissioning and Design, with the optional component of a rotation with our Maintenance department.

Our graduate programme is focused on honing in on the skills and knowledge that the graduates gained throughout their education, moulding them into experienced Electrical Engineers.

H&MV also offer our graduates the opportunity to become a member of Engineers Ireland, helping them with the process of becoming Chartered Engineers.

Apprentice Development Programme - United Kingdom

H&MV Engineering have a unique Apprentice Development Programme for on-the-job phases of the SOLAS Electrical Apprenticeship.

This is a purpose built training, developmental and educational programme for High Voltage Apprentice Electricians and will be rolled out to all our apprentices.

The modules covered in the apprentice development programme include:

  • Stations, Safety,
  • Protection and Control,
  • Maintenance,
  • Commissioning,
  • Cables and
  • Design.

This programme has been designed to provide our apprentices with the ideal forum to learn and develop the skills and knowledge required within the High voltage specialist services industry through mentoring, encouragement and assessment.

H&MV invest heavily in the training and development of staff each year and we see this programme as a further initiative that will attract more people to join the H&MV team as we continue to provide excellent career opportunities for honest, reliable and hardworking people.
